About the Root Family Stage

The Root Family Stage is our open-air home for the summer. If you are vaccinated, masks are encouraged but not required. Those who have not been vaccinated should follow CDC guidelines and wear a mask.

Bleacher

Our Bleacher seats are not socially distanced but they do provide the clearest view of the stage. If you purchase in this section you may be sitting next to someone you do not know. Mask wearing is encouraged but not required. To reserve wheelchair seats please call the box office at 301.924.3400. You will need to cross grass to access this section.

Chair Section

Chairs are set up in 1, 2, 3 and 4 person pods which are distanced four feet from neighboring pods. Please purchase seats in a pod that matches your party size. Because we are limiting admission in this area, it is important that there be no empty seats.

Lawn Seating

Closest to the stage! In our lawn section, you will bring a blanket to use in your pods, which will be clearly marked on the ground. Lawn pricing is per pod. Each pod can accommodate up to 4 patrons. To ensure everyone can see the performance, chairs are not permitted in the lawn section.

Health and Safety

Masks are encouraged but not required outside. Per CDC guidelines, unvaccinated individuals over the age of two should wear masks. All Olney Theatre Center staff working directly with patrons are required to wear masks.

Bathrooms

Should you need to go indoors to use the restroom or if an event is relocated indoors because of rain, you will be required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Please visit our Health and Safety page to learn more about the procedures OTC has in place.
